I’m thrilled to share that three pieces from my "Thirteen Series" have been accepted for the upcoming Bishop Auckland Town Hall Exhibition, running from December 2024 to February 2025. About the "Thirteen Series"
The "Thirteen Series" is a deeply personal and creative project that draws inspiration from the age-old superstitions surrounding the number 13. Traditionally considered unlucky, the number has long been steeped in mystery and intrigue. With this series, I’ve sought to reclaim and reinterpret its meaning, transforming it into a symbol of creativity, curiosity, and exploration.
Each piece in the "Thirteen Series" is named after a unique four-digit number—and here’s the twist: all the digits add up to 13. These titles are not just random labels; they form an intrinsic part of the artwork itself, inviting viewers to explore the interplay of numbers, chance, and interpretation.
A Unique Artistic Experience
What sets these pieces apart is their interactive quality. Each artwork is crafted on a wooden base and designed to spin and reposition, allowing the viewer—or potential buyer—to experience the piece from multiple perspectives. This reorientation can transform the visual narrative, offering a fresh concept of the art with every turn.
The materials I’ve used in this series—clay, resin, crackle paste, and modeling paste—add texture, depth, and intrigue to each piece. The dynamic interplay of these mixed mediums creates layers of detail that invite close inspection and reward repeated viewing.
